Darkness surrounded them, encased her. She felt alone, even though she knew they were still there. Hot breath hit her face, it reeked. She snapped her eyes closed on instinct. Thoughts raced across her mind, like a book unfolding before her. Whatever was breathing, had to be huge. Her heart beat was about to pound its way out of her chest.
