Lauren Jauregui is 17 years old, and has been living in a foster home for 10 years after losing her parents in an accident. Having struggled with the loss, she began to silence herself, and speak only when absolutely necessary. After her younger siblings were adopted without her, she never spoke again.
The story follows the life of Lauren 10 years on, and the mysterious new arrivals from Cuba, a young girl, Camila, and her younger sister Sofia. Being mute, Lauren finds it difficult to get along with Camila, as they end up living on top of each other.
