Mermaid

Mermaids and sirens. That is what the humans call us but we are so much more. We have our own Kingdom, our own laws. We are varied and different. Some live in the ocean others in fresh water. There are even some born into the darkness of the deepest parts of the ocean. Some of us are more beast then others. We have towns and cities made up of a mix of our kinds but inter breeding is illegal. When it happens the child is killed and, if it was a willing union, the mother will be as well. My mother lived in a Delta town, she met many different kinds of us here. Then she had me. I should be like her, a pure ocean Aqualis(mermaid) with bright colors but I am different. I lack any color save my green eyes. They took me away as a baby but I was taken from them before I was sentenced to die. A group of rebels took me in. They raised me and now I fight to change my own world while the humans accept our existence. Some already have. We live in a town called Landis where we fight for our freedom and rights.
