Allie and Xander are teenagers living in Camp 14, a labor camp in North Korea. Both of them have family members that broke North Korean law causing their family to be sent to Camp 14 as punishment. They work in the fields all day and barely have enough food and water to stay alive. If you try to leave, you are executed and if you dont work hard enough you are beaten severely. The children are taught from birth that there is nothing worth seeing outside the camp, North Korea rules the world, and Kim Jung Un is a god. Xander does'nt believe any of it and he believes he can save Allie. Night after night the two meet in secret. The more they meet, the more they long for the mysterious world outside the fences. Could they find love in a place it has never dwelled, a place stripped of all feeling? Do Allie and Xander know the price of freedom? They sick up for each other and do fun things together. He loves his dad and doesn't see the wrong in most things. One day Caleb tells Ella that Bradley and him are going on a trip with their dad and that she should go. She said yes, of course. Little did she know, what started out the shooting lessons in the middle of the woods would turn into their worst nightmare. Bradley has to reveal some secrets along with Ella and he has to start using his brotherly love and instinct to survive. What happens when Ella discover the biggest secret the boys have.
