My father was an alcoholic and my mother turned a blind side to his drunken beatings. I live alone on the eastside of Grand Ridge a small town in Michigan. I have no siblings. I am to fit in. Don’t get attached to people. Don’t fall in love. Have average grades. Millie Novak died in a car crash a year ago. I am no longer Millie. I am Ellie. I cannot manipulate the earth and understand animals. I do not hear everybody’s thoughts. I do not feel everybody’s emotions. I cannot kill somebody with a look. I am a normal, 17 year old girl.
	I am Ellie."
