Heroes exist. 

It just so happens that Wren isn't one of them. It's not that she doesn't like helping people nor is her admittedly blackened heart completely unfeeling. She just doesn't want to deal with the pressure of having to live up to the likes of Guardian or Warhead or any of the 'Big Capes'. Wren just lives her life the way she wants to, no endangered civilians cramping her style.

And then the Big Capes start disappearing.

The only problem is that the heroes disagree with her so-called 'lifestyle' and start a special task force in her name called D. O. A. Best known as the operation Dead. Or. Alive. The person specifically tasked to bring her in is none other than the great hero, Phoenix. He is best known for his smarts, good looks, and being a virtuous savior. But among people like Tempest, he is known as another overpowered, overrated hero no one can escape. Not even those blessed with super speed or teleportation can escape him. So, it should be effortless for him to catch her since she has no superhuman abilities. Except it's not. Tempest has a deadly virus no scientist, no government, no god can ever get rid of. So, when she finds out she is being hunted down by not only the hero society but the face of it, she turns to biological warfare. This story is a side follow-up to my main book on Amazon Kindle called H.E.R.O chapter 1. The story takes place in an alternate Earth we're heroes and villains fight each other for supremacy. However after an incident in 2016 which led to the devastation of heroes across the planet the remaining ones were hunted down and killed by the criminals that had formed leagues to take them all out. In the ensuing destruction of the hero organization and the collapse of their main power base and structure the heroes were forced to flee and seek protection amongst communities that would accept them while the criminals had gotten free reign with unchecked power across Nations. However not all heroes are ready to give up the fight as the story follows two heroes traveling across the nation that have stopped in the area of Seattle to make a living for themselves and to decide whether to give it all up and seek a normal life. However little do they know that their boss has a plan to help the heroes out with their fight which will have untold consequences for the world at large.
