Riverwood Academy is an elite private boarding school located in the heart of Wales. Only the most deserving students are allowed there, but only the most dedicated will succeed.
Macy Owens is the newest member of the Academy, having earned her place after showing she, and her beloved companion, Squib, are cut out for the 'big leagues'.
However, while she thinks school is going to be a doddle, the academy's true colours are beginning to emerge.
Homework is piling up, and boys are getting in way. Jealous rivalries also begin to form. On top of all that, Macy is still competing for her and Squib's place in the Team.
Will the drama all prove to be too much, or will she be able to rise to the top?

Since the Academy started accepting more and more birds, boot camps have had to be split into genders. Then halfway through you get assigned to your team. Most birds are put with other birds and maybe a dog or two. My first team was all birds. I was the "dog" of the group. A mean girl that loved to lift weights and fight others. I was in charge of making sure they were safe. They decided that orphan birds were best used for what my team specialized in. No one would notice if we disappeared or were killed. I am the only bird left in my team. There are five bird teams left in the city I'm in. There's three times as many dog teams. It takes real time to gain my trust.
