Whilst investigating the death of a local detective, a popular senator called Matt Blunder uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, silver gun circulating throughout Wales. As soon as anyone uses the gun, he or she has exactly 65 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look mirrored. A marked person feels like a chilly goldfish to touch.
Matt gets hold of the gun, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a fragile dog balancing on a ledge , an old newspaper headline about a biking accident, a creepy kitten ranting about ankles and a drinking well located in a wild place.
When Matt notices his hands have goldfish-like properties, he realizes that the curse of the silver gun is true and calls in his girlfriend, a author called Nadine Smith, to help.
Nadine examines the gun and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the fragile dog balancing on a ledge particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Matt and Nadine pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the crepy kitten. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?

The more information the MC learned about Hannah and the others while looking for clues, Jake and MC thought one of Hannah's friends was responsible for Hannah's disappearance. Then, MC learned about the man without a face, legendary Duskwood creature; he leaves a raven's mark on the doors of the worst sinners. Each year, on the night of the first new moon, he returns to the houses he has marked, drags anybody inside-guilty or not-out into the forest, never to be seen again. MC initially refused to believe in paranormal phenomena, but as time went on, inexplicable catastrophes began to occur. The faceless individual attacked Jessy, threatened Cleo's mother in a letter, and painted a red raven symbol on Richy's garage. Jake and MC continue their investigation into Hannah's disappearance because it appears that no harm has been done until Richy was attacked by the man without a face in the woods and was bleeding. What will MC do after that?
