Technically she didn’t exist. Well not only her but her entire kind. Lately there have been whispers and stories about them, the “Evolved” but the government would never acknowledge them. The Evolved were their very own secret, one that society would never accept considering their origins.

Bast knows that her freedom comes from the deception her mother carefully pulled off. That is how Bast has been blissfully living the life of a normal human being. That is until one evening Bast finds her mother dead in her own bed and foul play is evident. It’s not like she can run to the cops, her mother isn’t even supposed to be alive and there is no record Bast existing either. They are ghosts, but somehow the government that created her, discovered her mother’s lie and want nothing more than to find Bast.

Will Bast be able to gain the help of a detective who believes that the law is the last word to turn against the government he fights to protect? Will she be able to discover the reason for her mother’s murder? And the reason why they want her so bad?

Well she might have an idea for that one. I mean she is fast, really fast. Question is will it be enough?

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. ❖2021 Watty Awards Shortlist❖ Kevin was just a normal 10 year old kid until he saw a woman vanish right before his eyes. This made Kevin just a little bit different. He paid more attention to people now. Little did he know that this little difference would kill him the next time he encountered another alien about to return home. It would tear him apart, cell by cell, until he was unmade. His mind being transported away. --- So distantly far away there is a race that advanced to the point where they built dyson spheres to house their civilizations. In their continual expansion, they seeded galaxies with pods and connection satellites. Over time they upgraded their dyson spheres into matryoshka brain Cores. Imagine a computer powered by a star. Citizens of Cores no longer age once they upload their minds into the virtual living system of the Core. While they didn't age, most still choose to cycle through life and death though at a different scale of time compared to our lives. Citizens can visit other planets and live there as if they were on a "vacation". Mercury is Earth's hub connected to the closest Core and Earth is a remote vacation spot for wealthy citizens. When the main character was 10 he witnessed a citizen returning to the Core. The story continues 10 odd years later when he again witnesses a similar situation unfolding and manages to touch the person returning to the Core. This causes him to be swept up in the transfer as well and for his mind to join as a "Guest" user of the Core. As a Guest he has limited powers, a starting balance of zero cr or Citizen credits, and no idea how he can get home. He is the first human to ever become a Guest of a Core. Where money itself is the highest form of their science.

I shall get straight to the point," he set his eyes on mine as he made his claim. This was what I have been waiting for. The moment when he would disclose his hidden agenda for kidnapping me. Was it for money? Or maybe revenge? Though, I can't think of anyone who would want to seek vengeance on me. I don't interact with others much. My mother had ensured that. Trash-Stealer! Project Y

2 parts Ongoing

"There once was a girl barely anyone knew about. Every night, she would go from dorm to dorm, visiting every sleeping student. She wouldn't enter their rooms to hurt them, though. The only thing she would do is search through their trash cans, pick up a piece of trash and leave again. But if the student she is visiting isn't sleeping and she notices, he won't be able to move at all for some reason. It's like magic! And if he were to see her face, that student wouldn't see the one of a young, beautiful girl, but the one of a monster. There is something else to the story, though. If a student took something out of his trash can after already throwing it away, the girl would get angry and turn them into a monster. The student would never be seen again. And now, I can also assume that teachers staying at dormitories count, too." Professor Aldric was surrounded by silence for a moment, then the class discussed his ridiculous story between each other. "That's ridiculous," Ash muttered. "So you're saying, Mr. Vale could've gone missing because he took trash out of his trash can?" a student asked, amused. "The possibility is...," he paused for a moment, put seven fingers in the air and continued, "...at seven percent!" (Warning: Draft 1)
