In the old ages of our world, witches existed alongside humanity. However, when the world began to reject them, they fled into Mirror -a parallel world nearly identical to Earth. When the witches left, the magic of Earth went with them.

Flash forward nearly 1,000 years and we have the tale of an old hag who practices astral magic and a small earthen child who seems to be able to bring magic back to the human realm.

***********
"What are you doing?" Astra pushed the end of her staff into Orchid's chest, "Do you even want to learn!"

Orchid stood, frozen with fear, she couldn't tell if that was even a real question.

"Well, girl? D'you?" Astra lowered her voice and leaned toward Orchid, who was small even by Earthen standards, maybe a meter and a half -max. Orchid lowered her face and clenched her fists, nails digging into her palms.

Astra was inching closer, about to begin lecturing Orchid on magic once again, before Orchid's head popped up so fast Astra staggered back trying to avoid getting hit. Orchid's knuckles were white, and her body was shaking violently. Astra could see the tears welling up in Orchid's eyes and, for a moment, began to think maybe she had been too hard on this child. And then Orchids brows furrowed and her eyes grew hard, and her mouth opened wide and the little Earthen girl surprised the witch with what she said next:

"I want to learn magic infinitely more than you want to teach me. I want to learn magic more than birds want to fly. I want to learn magic more than you want me to leave. I want to learn magic more than I want to breath, or eat, or sleep, or drink!"

In a dystopian world, where the strongest prevails, having peace is a luxury. Especially when someone from the past is out to destroy everything we have built up over the past 15 years. And with Christmas approaching, our group get to face ten hellish days. Preview: In his fury, the chains have rubbed his wrists and neck raw, despite me trying to calm him down. He suddenly calms down when the screams in the cell next to us switch to the sound of bones breaking. Now he sits with foam on his lips and his eyes wide, looking that way. After ten minutes, the sounds of the boys in our cell have died down, and we all look at the wall that separates us from the crackling of the breaking bones. And then suddenly all is quiet. After a few silent minutes, our cell door opens slowly. From the ball of light from the ceiling, the little girl in the doorway is illuminated. She is completely covered in blood and doesn't move. Then she opens her eyes and carefully walks towards us. And despite everything, my first impulse is to crawl backwards, away from the unnatural calm radiating from her. ------------- After reading yet another great older brothers/younger sister story, where the family gets reunited after years of separation, the sister keeps the secret that she was abused and assaulted all along, and the brothers conceal their work in the mafia, I decided to give it also a try. The output of my story was initially to turn this around with openness and unconditional support and the torture should happen right in front of their very eyes. Because no story is complete without the (un)necessary bloodshed, action, humour and, of course, a bad guy. And who knows, to throw everything completely upside down, the main character may not survive. I won't write warnings above each chapter, because most of them contain violence, blood, torture, etc. Constructive criticism is welcome. Ow, and English is not my first, second or third language. So if I mess up somewhere, let me know!

❅| "Even a vastness can no longer shelter you... or engulf your dream." ⊱⋅ ──────────── ⋅⊰ [UNDER EDITING/REDRAFTING - latest chapter: 11] To a world seemingly shrouded in a cloak of safety and eternal peace, death is an unimaginable concept. Yet for those whose rule of life was mere survival, perhaps that's a different situation. For those who stood in the face of adversity, for those who refused to give in to the castigation of their lives, life has no sweetness to it. Merely the bitter tang of a blood-chilling revenge. To avenge a loved one or perhaps even their own pain, the murderous intent behind their deceitful eyes is unmistakable. For, to them, lamenting about the past is a life lost to the cruel hands of fate. - What happens when a woman as brilliant as the morning sun provides a haven in one's dreams? What happens when she, despite the agonies life carries, says to abandon everything right here and now and leave? Alcestis did not need to be told twice. Seizing the chance to escape the horrible clutches of her grandparents, she sets out to find the Elementals-a band of heroes protecting the human realm from those that lied beyond, headed by her parents. She knew of the darkness that festered within her; she knew of the hatred that danced in her heart. More than anything, she knew the extents of how fragmented her soul was. What, perhaps, would unfold when she sets out on her journey, leaving behind the world she knew; leaving behind what hopefulness remained in her battered heart? None would heed her an answer, indeed. None save for the rage that tainted her being.

They were there to help, protect and comfort her when she was in pain, felt lonely or needed them. Until one day, her life started to change and her wheel of fate started moving. *draft 1 *If this is the 1st book in the series you've found, I recommend reading book 1 first before reading this one. Book 2 starts off almost exactly after book 1 ends. Now on the run, Emily, Jasmine, and Lily, have taken asylum at the Alpha King's home. Emily is still upset over what happened at the battle against the magical creatures and the royal family. Still suffering from nightmares of her birth, and now the battle and the death of her parents, Emily tries to be happy for Jasmine who is bonding with her long lost father. The Alpha King even offers Emily and Jasmine some training over being werewolves and how to connect with their creature side more. Emily takes focus on the training but when King Augustus takes revenge over the magical creatures taking out half of his family, he makes the magical creature factions to offer up some of their own in a brutal arena where they are forced to fight to the death. The Alpha King, who just found his daughter, doesn't want to hand her over but he hands Emily over, making her despise the Alpha King even more. In the first year of the brutal entertainment yet again for the humans, Emily meets fellow witch orphanage sisters Valentine and Violet. Mermaids, beaches, fairies! this place is awesome. someone then snatched the book out my hands. "Mermaids? what is this crap?" I looked up to see Cynthia and her clique. "why do you carry this thing around with you all the time?" I stood up and held out my hand. "give it back." "why? it's not like you can read it, you're stupid." Her words didn't mean anything to me but those words are going to come back to me tonight and punch me in the face. "How old are you? aren't you like 16 and reading this children's book?" How long have you been here Michelle? Tears welled up in my eyes. I knew what was coming next. "answer me, hoe!" "10 years" I mumbled. "10 years and still haven't been adopted? that's sad. why are you still living? no one loves you. no one ever will. I bet your parents crashed their car on purpose just to get away from you." I had enough. I threw myself at her. I slammed my fists into her pretty face. then her clique joined in. I was outnumbered. Everything got blurry after the second kick. They continued and I blacked out.
