At the moment, the word "gay" wasn't really excepted. Most people would gasp when they even heard the word. 

Troye Sivan, a hard working 17 year old finds himself falling for another man, also known as Connor Franta. 

"Why? It's wrong to be gay!" Is all that goes through Troye's head. I mean, It is 1853. Gay is a SIN.
This is all new to Troye, yes he may have had feeling for boys before but this boy gave him the chills.

Connor on the other hand, knew he was gay. We was totally out to his family and close friends but obviously not to the public, we would have been burned to death. That's just how they did it in that town.

Troye and Connor have a running feud. Growing up together; you'd think the two boys would have an everlasting friendship, unable to break the bond between them... but that's the exact opposite. Troye and Connor absolutely hate each other; and everyone knows that. Everyone except their families. So what happens when Troye's family has to fly back to Australia to take care of a sick family member? Troye has to live with the Franta's for a month or two. Which means whenever he's around Connor's family, he has to act like he's friends with Connor. But soon it isn't an act, soon both boy's start to actually be nice, but why?
