The Kingdom of Troyard is a prosperous place.
On Prince Gabriel Troyard's 18th Birthday, the King decided to organize a special party to celebrate his son's coming-of-age : A Masquerade Party.
But when the Prince had accidentally made a commotion which threatened his dignity and position as a Prince, a mysterious girl helped him. Why did the girl help him, even though they were complete strangers?
That wasn't the only question that weighed on his mind.
He realized later on, that the crowd who witnessed him make a fool out of himself had seemed to have forgotten all about the incident! Something was definitely fishy, but he couldn't tell what was the cause of it.
Who was that girl? Why did she save him?
As Prince Gabriel finds out more and more about the girl's dark secrets, he vows to protect her, and to end the curse which binds her for life.
As the girl enters his life of royalty, he found his world suddenly turned upside down.
When war threatened to destroy Kingdom Troyard, what will Gabriel do? Will he seek revenge from the girl who started it all, or will he save her from her cruel fate?
Will he still trust her, even though she will bring him misery and pain through a betrayal?

Our main character is going to learn that your powers do not define who you are as a person. Arion Griffin lives in a society where people with light magic are 'good' and people with dark magic are 'bad'. He comes from a long line of dark magic. Unfortunately, this causes many problems for his social life since his family's reputation precedes him and makes it so no one will talk with him. He is worried it will make his greatest fear come true. He is terrified he is on the path to becoming evil like his parents. Then, one day at school he gets an invitation from Cassiopeia's School for the Gifted. Sure he's heard of it, but only in rumors. The school is just for magical creatures to learn more about themselves and their history. It was made over three hundred years ago and still run by a fairy named Cassiopea and her daughter Cassia. Arion is excited to go because his parents refuse to teach him anything about other magical creatures other than dark magic. They believe it is irrelevant for him to know because they think he will take over the world one day. And why should a leader know anything about his subjects? Arion convinces his parents that if he goes to the school he can do recon on the other magical people so he can learn about them and make it easier for him to take over. With no friends, no siblings, and a very negative outlook on life, he heads to Cassiopeia's School for the Gifted. He was trying to find someone who knew when his birthday was, someone who knew his name. What he didn't know was that the love he was seeking was just as lost as he was in the deserted lands not that far away. Acacia, a beautiful girl with a scarred face, her parents named her Acacia, which means abandoned. The wasteland is the place where every person who was "DEFECTIVE" was placed. Acacia was a beautiful girl who was inquisitive, she was always looking for an adventure or occasionally looking for a little trouble. She was 17 with beautiful long locks of silk chestnut colored hair and bronzed skin but a small scar on her left eye. One problem was that Acacia was a female and her birthday was 2 months away. The law of the wasteland is that all females must be wed at the age 18. Acacia loves no one other than her adoptive father because in the wasteland most people don't love at all and think of themselves to be a curse.
