In the future city of Perseity, a land after ours, lies a chest, protected by the only one who can be trusted, that contains the stories of how the land before was created, civilized, and destroyed. The Keeper is the only one who possesses these documents. Seven 13 year olds have their first meeting with destiny by being entered in The Chance. All kids get their life jobs or Destiny Groups at 13 in the Chance. They have only heard legends about the keeper and the secrets of the land before. Perseity is the only city that is known. They believe that the land before was destroyed and nothing but rubble. Almost all families died in The Great Destruction and survivors are the only ones who grew civilized again to create Perseity in a small area of the world that was unknown to early civilization and contains all the necessary resources the Society approves. But when mysterious newcomer, Genesis Watkins comes into town millions of questions emerge. Who is she? where did she come from? Are there other survivors? New land?
