Ella Thomas was a young girl who had everything she dreamed of. As she was walking the streets, an out of control carriage came towards her. She froze in her tracks and couldn't move. The next thing she knows is that she's on the ground covered in dirt. She looked over to see who her rescuer was and it happened to be a NYC Newsie named Mush Meyers. They instantly have a connection, but she has to leave right away. She develops feelings for him and can't get him out of her mind. While trying to entertain one of her father's potential business partners, Ella runs into Mush and the rest of the Newsies at Tibby's. The boy she is with starts a fight and knocks Ella out.
