The Gauntlet (The Daimon book Series)

This tale starts off on a warm spring morning. Where the skies are blue, where there are little clouds in the sky. Where little drew drops are falling off the spring trees that are getting there leaves back. The sound of birds chirping in the wind echoed through the air vents in Michael's room with a flutter of wings as pigeons sat on the outer window ledge. The cluttering of their feet and flapping of their wings seemed to disturb Michael, but something else was disturbing this young teenager, his dream. He dreamed about a red tail with a white tip. He dreamed about running around a strange world with his friends, he also dreamed about something else which turns his dream into a nightmare.

Michael tossed and turned in his bed, left and right he went. Moving his legs up and down, kicking and grabbing the covers. He was reacting to things around him, he was hearing explosions which felt like they where trembling even the fabric of reality. His legs moved up and down like he was running as his family came in the room. They tried to wake him but nothing happened. They held him down to make sure he didn't hurt himself or anyone else in the room. After he calmed a lot his family stopes holding him down. There was nothing for a while in till suddenly there was a massive scream, Michael shot up and held his chest. He ripped off his T-shirt and a red mark of a paw was so bright it was like he had just been burned. As it faded the pain subsided. A plausible explanation was made, he must have done it somehow while he slept. But Michael, even hours later, could still feel it on his chest.
