Dementa is 12 years old...when she dies, but it's just the beginning of the story, and you have no clue what is going on. Why would I start a story with the main character dying? It makes no sense, does it? Well, in most stories, they would've told you that's how the story really starts, but in this case, the real beginning is when this monster was born.

They used my vulnerability against me. They used that weapon, to make me accept their stupid idea. And I of course, accepted it, I didn't even know what they were going to do. But I had enough of the tugging, the clawing, the moaning, the crying and pleading for them to stop, but simply feeding them with our pain.
