Every young person needs someone to look up to, someone to admire, someone just to be there for them, someone who understands them. For 16 year old Regina Mills that was Princess Adeline. Ada was everything Regina wanted to be, at the same time though she wasn't. They bonded over their similar opinions of royal & high society life, both wanting to leave and do more with their lives. Only Ada had a ring on her finger, a young daughter, a loving but distant husband and a peaceful kingdom holding her back, and a dark secret pushing her forwards. So her dreams, aspirations & passions were passed on to teenage Regina. So when Ada mysteriously disappeared Regina was determined to find her, even if it meant breaking a few promises, as she tried to solve the mystery with various clues Ada's family and palace servants seem to have. Regina spends many years on the journey until they are reunited. When finally in the grown eyes of Regina, the dark secret was finally out in the open. The thing that revealed Ada's perfect life, to be a perfect lie.

She has one friend, Kathryn, who's also a teacher. Regina's father died when she was young, and her mother is a cold-hearted woman. Regina knows that her mother only wants what's best for her, but her own idea of what's best isn't the same as her mother's. They don't have much contact anymore. Despite all, Regina has a big heart and feels things deeply. She wants to help her students the best she can. Emma Swan: 17 years old. About to start her senior year in high school. She was adopted by Mary Margaret Blanchard and David Nolan when she was 14. They started fostering her when she was 13. Before that, Emma was always bouncing from bad foster homes to group homes. Like Regina, Emma has wall around her heart because of her very turbulent childhood. She doesn't trust easily and has a hard time letting people in - parents as well as friends. She has two best friends - Belle and Ruby - who was very welcoming when Emma first came to Storybrooke. They introduced her to their friends, making sure she never felt alone. When she was younger she fought for the love she had for Daniel, and tried her hardest to fight her mother's evil, ultimately ending in losing Daniel. For a while, she tried to fight the evil that began festering inside after the loss, and she lost that battle too. Then, for years she fought the love that Snow White and Prince Charming had for eachother, doing everything in her incredibly vast power to try and ruin it for them. Everything she did fought off love, deep down she felt unworthy of it, even from her own son who she truly loved but still kept at arm's length. When she met Emma Swan, it was different. Emma didn't even try to suck up to the mayor, she didn't care about Henry's stories of her evil-doing, though she did believe him. She wasn't scared of Regina, so she had no love to fight. It felt wrong, but for that very reason, Regina found herself with fondness for Emma. How odd, that the younger woman's lack of love caused the older woman to become fascinated. It felt wrong, and it felt scary, and Regina Mills didn't like feeling scared.Complete
