The story begins when Jenna Heap wakes up on Christmas Eve, immediately feeling pessimistic. It is the anniversary of her boyfriend, Fred Weasley's death. When she gets invited to Luna Lovegood's Christmas Party, she is reluctant to go until her best friend, Cassie Potter, convinces her to. The holiday has her filled with hope as she wonders: Maybe this year I won't be sad on Christmas, maybe I'll have a happy holiday. The real question is: Will she?
