In today's society, mental illnesses are romanticised and taken lightly. Mental illnesses aren't beautiful. They are monsters that destroy lives. We shouldn't be promoting them to impressionable teenagers on the internet or making jokes on them. They should be taken just as serious as a physical illness. Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it's not there...right? Nina Cervantes looks like your average, happy, teenage girl... But she's fighting a battle no one knows about. With her family oblivious to her sufferings and her lack of friendships at school, Nina is trying her hardest to fight off the demons inside her head. People believe that when struggling with a mental disorder, you have people who love and care about you surrounded by you to help your recovery. But this isn't the case with Nina, she is passing by the day's wishing every second of her life away and the worst part is.... She has no one there to tell her that "it is ok not to be ok" ****************************** Authors note: Not in any way or form is this book a judgement of mental illnesses or people who suffer with them, I am just trying to spread more awareness of the stigma and hopefully help those that are alone while coping with a mental health problem. If you are struggling with any form of mental illness or disorder and are alone, please talk about it. Trust me, it helps. Looking for a reason to hold on? Here it is. {The Stardust Project Series Book 1}

"Tell me about your daughter, Ms. Light." "Her name was Desederia April Light. Of course, she made everyone call her Daya for sake of causality, but she nonetheless was an amazing girl. She had bright amber eyes, gorgeous curly hair, and she aspired to be a firefighter because she loved helping people. She wanted to save lives. Her favorite color was orange because she claimed that it was under appreciated, and she adored Autumn because of the vibrancy. She was obsessed with sunflowers, too. She was just a normal girl, just a normal kid." "So then what happened?" "I..don't know. Things just changed one day. She grew paranoid and quiet, her grades dropped, and she'd beg us to stay home. I'd just tell her to grow up, but I should've listened." "But you really don't have an idea of why?" "I wish that I did. I wish I knew then what I know now, and I wish I took the matter more seriously when she tried to tell me." "So, Ms Light, tell me, do you think we'll find her?" "I don't know. But I know my Daya, and I know how smart she is. She might get to us before we get to her." ~ This is an unedited sample. The full, edited version is available on my Amazon Kindle (link in bio).
