I think what makes the hurt, hurt even more is the expectation we place on the ones we love. "I know I love you and so I'm going treat you this way, speak this way to you, and respect you like this..." and we expect the same thing in return. This is where the shock value comes in. We're not expecting the ones we love, treat well and respect to treat us any other way than how we treat them. So when the time comes and you see the feelings/actions/words aren't reciprocated, we hurt.

Ever thought how we just meet strangers and they become more than even our blood relatives? That happened to me like everyone else. I met them on a strange note. I haven't had a boyfriend in almost a year. Reason being I got hurt by the one I loved, the one who I had hoped to share a future with, the one who broke my heart. It's hard to fall for someone you're not sure will catch you. Why is that? Why do we get our hopes up sometimes, thinking that the people we love can catch us, when we ourselves can't even catch ourselves when we fall because of the pain they give us? We're the ones who keep catching them when they get hurt, it's unfair because they can't even catch us when we're falling head over heels for them...
