The closer your soul mate is, the warmer your necklace will become. The further your soul mate is, the colder your necklace will be. However, when you remove your necklace before stumbling upon your partner for life, it's power will be gone forever. You would no longer be able to sense your soul mate and you would forever bear the mark of the Halfling, those whom never found their soul mate.
