2 months after defeating the Kishin Asura, Death City has finally finished recovering and the DWMA has reopened to all of the students. As Soul receives a letter with a familiar seal on it, he decides to hide it from his friends and his partner, Maka. After Maka finds out what's wrong with Soul, they get into an ugly argument and their soul wavelengths start to become unstable which leads to a switch in partners. Lord Death is holding a party for the student's hard work against the witches and the Kishin, but when that happens, Lord Death gives out two different announcements.
