A teenage boy loves to surf though his father has reminded him over and over that it's dangerous. He lives with his father and best friend who's parents died. Not only does he have to deal with her depression and suicidal actions he now finds himself being lured to the waves by a man who moves into the neighborhood. In the middle of one of her suicidal plots, the man saves her and in return teaches Heath the secrets of the waves for which he knows he can not stay away
