On the night of Blair's 17th birthday she sneaks out the window and off into the night. In the morning she thinks it's a dream.

But all is not what it seems. She is a member of group of teens who protect the "Race". And only fate chooses who joins. 

All is fine when one night her entire family is murdered in cold blood. Someone is trying to stop the Race. 

She now has to lead the group on a winding journey to find the killer.
