Charles Xavier once said that mutation took us from single-celled organisms to being the dominant form of reproductive life on this planet. Infinite forms of variation with each generation, all through mutation.

This is what made it possible for Lily Stevens to conjure fire from nothing, and while that should have been wonderful, the world wasn't ready for it. She suffered greatly at the hands of frightened people, and that created a pitch blackness in her heart that will taint her view of people forever.

Now, Charles and his new comrade Erik Lensherr -Two men with exact opposite philosophies- must recruit as many mutants as they can to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known.

Will Lily accept the call to battle? And if she does, who will she join in the end?

Erik pushes the girl to embrace her pain and make it her power, but Charles encourages her to let her pain go and hold onto hope instead.

Whatever she decides, Lily knows the world will never be the same again.
