Some fates are worse than death--survival is one of them. In the two hundred years since humanity left the Earth's surface to live in the sky, life on the ground faded to a myth, a tragic memory from which they severed themselves to survive. They floated above continents turned to sand and lands swallowed by the seas, watched storm after storm rage against their cities and their monuments until they broke apart the last vestiges of civilization in penance for generations of human greed. As a lightning harvester charged with flying her ship into these storms for energy, Raina has seen more of the planet than most. She has spent her entire life soaring above its craters and scars, studying the gaping wounds of human devastation, as she honed her skills and became the youngest captain in storm-chaser history. Her ship has flown for generations. Her skills are unparalleled. But none of that matters the day they go down. ~ Praise for Earth, After: "I'm so not ready for this ending. A dystopian young adult novel involving romance, secret experiments on human subjects, and a group of teenagers' will to survive. Reader Comments: "I'm gonna gush about your book real quick...all the technology has a purpose and is beautifully explained so I can picture it in my mind...the whole concept of the book is completely original...*moment of silence for your beautiful arch of character development* everything your characters do is strictly them but they develop enough to show more about themselves without you straight up telling the reader about them" -Vairl9023 "Ahh!!! This is so good!! I will be anxiously awaiting the next Chapter!!" -CrystalBagot "Brilliant...ohh, this is very catchy, good work" -IndeeMaynard "I love this so far" -BrianneMorris "You've done a great job at creating a mysterious mood" -poisonedpen *** All Evita Creedy, 17, wants is to finish her degree and be accepted for a prestigious job with the city's Department of Energy. 𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗬𝗦 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗥 · 28x FEATURED · An Asian sci-fi retelling of The Little Mermaid that steers the tale you know in a whole new funky direction | An ambitious teen mermaid must venture beyond her guarded underwater city and brave the polluted, climate-ravaged wilds of the Indian Ocean, in order to find her human soulmate and forge a better future for her people. *** The city of Calliathron is the epitome of modern sea life--contained within a glorious coral atoll in the Indian Ocean. Yet, the ripples of the changing world beyond seep in with increasing force, bleaching color and darkening minds--but not Dea Rhodoreef's mind. That day, all Dea could think about was swimming her sea cow to the seagrass meadows. Who said life's easy for a high school teen? Even more so when one is a pastel goth gamer mermaid trying to scrape by in a modest mobile home with a grumpy grandmother, who's always complaining about the "human infestation". Maybe the troubled city-state will embrace a new dawn when merpeople and humans co-exist--a future that Dea is determined to work hard for. Now, as if school, a part-time job and a looming political career aren't enough, a chonky sea cow has been following her for days. The night is dark. There's no moon, no stars. We rush through the thicket of the woods. The sound we hear is the pounding of our running feet. We run into low hanging branches, fighting against them until we stumble until a clearing. My partner grabs my arm and leads me down another path. "Wait! Where are the others?" I shake my arm from their grasp. "Where are they?" There was a stillness to the dark woods. The type of stillness that holds danger within its shadows. "They'll be fine!" I get pulled back down the path that I was being led to anyhow. "They know what to do. They won't find us if we stay separated." I ran alongside my hidden pair. The moon is at its peak at night. It shows us the way. "It's not him I am worried about, Sunistral. It's her." I hear a sharp breath behind us. I swear it was! But it was disguised as a searing gust of cold wind. When I looked back, there was nothing. Just an endless pit of darkness. It was then that I knew that it had found us. This dream somehow finds me ever night. And every night I wake up in absolute confusion. I have no memory of my parents or where I came from. The only true constant of my existence is the visits that my nightmares make at night and during the day. I have yet to understand the echos of them. Until I find myself where it all began: at Pearl Academy.
