Princess Lily of Eden has always done whatever her twin brother, crown prince Jeremiah, did, whether it be sword fighting or learn politics, but as she grew older her behavior is viewed as less and less acceptable. When war strikes her kingdom, she does all she can from the confines of the capital, but it is not enough.

Her men are dying.

Her towns are burned to the ground.

Her people are hungry.

The death of the general and her father's reluctance to replace him pushes Lily over the edge and she takes matters into her own hands. She was determined to save her kingdom even if it meant leaving the safety of the castle, perhaps never to be allowed back in.

The Princess, the Pea and the Night of Passion by rosettabloom

If you enjoy hot and steamy fairy tales, this story is for you. In this grown-up version of the famous fairy tale, Princess Adara is running from her old life and a forced betrothal. Adara wants love and passion, but knows she can't get them back home. When a raging storm halts her escape, Adara seeks refuge in the first dwelling she sees. Prince Richard is tired of the trite, vain, frigid princesses his mother introduces him to in hopes he'll marry. On this stormy night, he's in the mood to love a woman, but he's all alone. Adara arrives on the castle doorstep, saying she's a princess in need of help. The queen is doubtful and decides to lock Adara in a room with a pea to determine if the girl is as royal as she claims. Richard believes the beautiful, charming stranger, but he wants her locked in a bedroom for other reasons. When Richard and Adara hook up, there's more than a pea-sized bit of passion involved....(This is an adult fairy tale.) The story is complete on Wattpad. The Last Knights of Cambria Book 1: Echoes of Gideon by kullman
16 parts Complete
Gideon Saint is dying for something exciting to happen in his life. With his love of history, he figures an internship at the museum has to be a good start, right? Anything is better than listening to his parents argue or sitting alone in his room doing research no one but him seems to care about. A chance encounter with a magical ring leaves him transported to an alternate version of ancient Wales, or as it was sometimes called, Cambria. 1432 Wales, to be exact. Here magic is the most powerful weapon of all as kings vie for power. Good thing Gideon's teleportation from the present has also left him with the ability to use magic, and he's quickly regarded as a powerful wizard. In this timeline, Wales maintained it's independence, but that's about to change. Henry V is on the throne of the England, and the greatest warrior king England has ever had has set his sights on Wales. Can Gideon help save his newfound friends and master his new powers, while living a double life in the 21st century? Ahem, living people die, dying people live, Henry V is here and he's awesome despite being the main antagonist, everybody is vaguely gay, swords are described in loving detail, people are not, lovely platonic friendships, did we mention swords? Yes, you may learn something about history, but that's a risk you'll have to take. Basically, think of this as a Percy Jackson type of adventure, but it's historical fiction instead of Greek gods. The narrator is 15 and the major supporting characters are 14, 17, and 19. That said, there's nothing in the way of content that's inappropriate for a younger reader. As always if you're not here to go on a fun little adventure find a different story. Trigger/Content: very mild language, some magic violence, fantasy violence. Self-harm is briefly discussed. Adoption issues are discussed as well as brief scenes of a abusive family. Characters briefly mention crushes and or dating, no real innuendos.

When 17-year-old Ren Taylor is swept off a ferry during her family vacation in Scotland, she ends up in a hidden world of bagpipes and whisky, populated by fairies with tails and scales. She learns that she's the kingdom's long-lost princess. Once the shock wears off, she finds solace in the kingdom, from her newfound friendship with the hunky and consistently kilt-clad stable manager to the haughty prince Ren comes to love as her brother. Everything is exactly as the stories said it would be. Well, not everything. Ren can't perform the magic that should be her birthright as princess. When she digs deeper, she discovers that it was all a mistake. Ren isn't the princess. She isn't even a fairy. Reeling, she sets out to find answers, and the true princess. She finds her, but the princess doesn't seem as ignorant of magic as she claims to be. As Ren learns more, she comes to suspect that the princess is plotting to kill the prince. She could go home now, pretend that the whole thing was a dream, not risk her very human life in this magical battle - but if she does, the prince will die, and the kingdom will fall into the hands of their enemies. CASTLE OF FLAME is a YA contemporary fantasy, complete at 99,000 words. It is a total of fifteen chapters. The protagonist is biromantic asexual, and there are a bunch of queer supporting characters. The story includes: · found family · Highland ponies · road trip woes · one bed trope (but gay) · coexistence of magic & science · swoony romance & epic friendships · sympathetic villain TW: gun violence, death, kidnapping, torture (implied), homophobia, internalized acephobia (this only comes up twice - this is not a book where the character struggles with her asexuality), destructive house and forest fires.

[Wattys2018 Shortlist] [Bootcamp Mentorship Mentee 2020] [Insidious Awards - 1st place/Action/Adventure] "Squinty, I... Help me! Please! You have to help me!" Squinty huffed at him as the horse might snort at an annoying fly it couldn't get rid of. "A...a... an apple," he stammered. "I just... stole an apple!" ---- When water is controlled by those in power, even a mere apple can be a catalyst. For Squinty, it was the start of everything. Finding Grizzly. Losing Roko. Becoming a Vigil. Discovering she had the power to become invisible. For Nalina, the threat of a new Water War was even closer to home; her beloved brother was the one initiating it. To Drian, water formed the core of his belief system, defined who was - and was not - worthy, and justified the treatment of the underground-dwelling Wellers. An orphan girl, determined to do what was right. A princess, petitioning for peace. An abbot, torn between his religion, and his experience. Each with an Etching, a unique power that surely makes them special; a tie to something more, something extra, something beyond the Squareworld.
