Ivy Zoe Harper is broke. When Ivy's mother divorces for the sixth time from her longest lasting relationship with the rich Mr. Harper, creator of Genii League Gaming, they are both left penniless and heartbroken. Her mother finds solace in selling the only possession she was left with, the house, and moving into a small flat in downtown LA. She leaves her daughter to fend for herself, telling her only that she would be back when she was on her feet again. Being enrolled in the prestigious Puckett Island Boarding School now seems like a curse to Ivy. On her own it is almost impossible to pay for the rich girls place, at this point only her brains are keeping her where she is. Break one rule, they said, and you're out. Ivy now has to balance two part time jobs and her studies to pay for all things extra. There's one problem though, jobs are strictly forbidden.
