Meet Sarah Wellington, a student at Violetta High School, located in a small town called FriedrickVille. In the end of second grade, Sarah was given the nickname "Snake Girl" by her peers after a small (huge) accident, causing her classmates to keep a distance from the red head and talk behind her back. Her life at home is no better thanks to her cynical and sarcastic mother Helga, and the absence of her father. Put all this together, and you've got a rude, stubborn, tomboyish, and loud-mouthed teen that isn't afraid of a getting in fights. But once her junior year starts, Sarah is given an assignment from her principal; to complete a list called, "The Caterpillars Goal To Being A Butterfly." The list gives simple tasks to complete in order for Sarah to fix her "Behavior" issue at school. What does that include? Well, just make some friends, get some hobbies, start some social life thing, etc. etc. Not too hard, right? Well, let's just say that Sarah won't be expecting the annoyance of some new neighbors, an Art teacher obsessed with romance novels, a good friendship with a girl from China, learning to play guitar at a disorganized music store with a tutor who needs some happy pills, meeting the strangest customers at her part time job (as well as being in the mercy of her evil boss, Ron), learning the truth about her father, healing some wounds with her mom, and learning how to fall in and out of love. It won't be easy, and it might take a while, but as Sarah finally learns to get off the sofa eating junk food and watching TV all day, she experiences the ups and downs of life. And every little thing she angriliy deals with, gets her one step closer to [possibly] being a happy person with a stable life and becoming what a caterpillar will be at the end of her journey; a butterfly.

"Why do you portray yourself as the 'bad girl'?" I'm caught off guard by his question. I look down at my shoes, feeling slightly angry. Who was he to say that me being a bad girl is just something I portray myself as? "This is my lifestyle." "I don't believe that for even a second, Josephine." "And why not?" I ask him, snapping my head up to meet his piercing eyes. "Today I've seen more than you being a 'bad girl'. That's not who you are," he shrugs. "Let's get this straight and you listen loud and clear. I don't pretend to be someone I'm not. This lifestyle that I'm living is real. I smoke, I wear leather jackets, I ride motorcycles, I love bands, and I know how to fight. That's what I do, and what I am is a bad girl." "No, what you are is a normal person. There's no such thing as a 'bad girl' and there is no such thing as a 'bad boy'. Anybody can throw on a leather jacket, hop on a motorcycle, and throw a cigarette in their mouth. That doesn't classify them as a bad boy or girl, Josephine." I consider his theory for a second, but then I shake my head. "Who I am is all that I know how to be." "That makes you one of us." ~~~~~~ Josie only wants one thing: to know why Felix Calvin Wesley doesn't talk. Everyone at Roke High School has gone up to him to get him to talk, or maybe to just find out what he draws in that huge sketchbook he always seems to be carrying around. When Josie's best friend makes her get up and go talk to him one day during lunch, Josie doesn't back down. They say it only takes twelve days to fall in love with someone. Will the bad girl fall in love with the weirdo artist? Or is Josie just wasting her time?
