Ruby Asher—the most fabulous of the Asher triplets—loves color, sparkles, and everything girly. The middle sister, Ruby prefers to stand out and make people happy. With her pink-colored hair and bubbly personality, people tend to assume she is a flake. So when a twist of fate drags her, minus one stiletto, into the paranormal world, no one believes her or leaps to her rescue. But—fact—a were-unicorn tripped on a kitten and bit her shoulder. The unicorn in question, Silas Eliot, is in hiding from the rest of his kind. He hates his dual nature, hates all things glittering and colorful, and just wants to be taken seriously as a hardcore, shock metal musician. Can Ruby help him redesign his look to better fit his dream while he teaches her to deal with her new gift...or will they both find love at the end of the rainbow?

Marley Parker is the middle child, with an older sister and younger brother. Her family is beyond normal. Not only do her parents run a shady business, which Marley has never been completely briefed on, just enough so she knows it's not the safest, but everyone in her family except for her mom can shapeshift into cats. Each member of the Parker family has their own feline species they can turn into, or they can turn into a regular domestic cat, whenever they want. Now that Marley has started college, her parents have sort of cut her off financially. They help her out with any medical bills, something to do with the family business, and food expenses. But, Marley would still rather pay for things herself, so she works part-time at a convenience store right on campus. Things start to change when she is shot in the arm and taken to the hospital and meets a certain someone she does not care for too much, Landon West.
