A lunchtime conversation 10 years earlier, leads a father and son from Connecticut to buy bicycles in Tallahassee Florida and head west, hoping to reach the beach in San Diego California. If you think you couldn't do it, neither did we. We had never ridden more than 20 miles on a bike on any day, had no experience with adventure travel, and had no idea what life would be like "on the road." In 48 days of biking we learned a lot and grew closer while spending 24/7 together and never running into anybody we knew for almost two months. We got to experience America from the best vantage point possible. Along the way we survived cloud to ground lightning, rabid dogs (almost daily), gunshots, floods, brush fires, capturing two people crossing the border, rattle snakes, 122 degree heat in the Yuma desert and a root-canal. And... we wouldn't have changed a thing. The book is intended to be a guide for unsupported cross country biking and father-son bonding, told through stories from the road. Our blog which will be an appendix to the book is www.cycleofalifetime.blogspot.com
