When Melody's dad remarries after losing her mother to skin cancer Melody is forced to live with her stepbrother, Austin. Slowly Melody bonds with Austin, but is pulled farther away from her father. As Melody struggles with her dad being focused on Austin and him trying to get her affection, her best friends, Sadie and Cynthia, help her through it. After many close moments something happens to Austin that leaves Melody's world shattered. Her world is falling apart as well as her life. With her old flame becoming stronger than ever, and her dad and stepmom unapproachable after what happened to Austin, and Cynthia wrapped up with her new 'job' life is dark and fearful. With no one to turn to Melody slowly sinks into depression, until one day she wonders if life is even worth it.

Rose finally realizes that she can do this alone, she's going to need help from her father to help her get back on and also have help from the new cute boy, Austin who's helping for his community service. At first he doesn't want to be there, but eventually finds a reason to stay. Rose has had a good life up until the day of the accident, but now she's got to face loss, and heartbreak, but she's got to learn to get back in the race. This story holds romance, family, trust, understanding the past, and conquering your fears. *Read to find out more, I know it may sound boring from the description, but it's really not.
