Little Bird

"Dad?" I asked quietly for his attention as he pushed me into the closet. "Tell me what's going on." He placed me in the corner. His warm hands under my arms. I gripped his forearms digging my nails into him. "Tell me." I breathed.

His eyes rose and met mine. With a silent glare that told me I wasn't going to win. "Eden, you are going to sit here, and wait for me to come back. Understood?" I nodded wanting more than I was getting. He slipped me a knife and nodded. "You know how to use it." I sighed and wrapped my hand around the handle shaking with fear that the weapon always brought me.

With my father being a gamma it had always come naturally. But never felt right. The way I knew blood would roll off my fingers in only a matter of years. I didn't want it.

He brought his lips into my hair kissing me softly his blue eyes sparkling with the mischief that had grown in mine of the years. "I'll be back." I gripped his arm harder. "I promise." He ended with prying my nails out his bleeding skin. It healed right over the crescent shapes leaving only a mere trail of scabs as a last reminder of what his daughter could inflict in mere seconds.

I let him go, as reluctantly a daughter could. The crashing and barks. The mess loud and clear out the window and beneath my feet. He closed the closet and the bedroom door turning off the lights and hustling down the hallway.

I couldn't believed he promised.
