Ellie LaRue is a pastry chef, fresh out of cooking school. She attended a cooking school and graduated top of her confectionery class at age twenty-three. She moved in with her best friend, Madeline Kart, a food critic. Ellie got a job at a bakery called Pastel Pastry Palette as Chef Gabrielle Aubrey's assistant. It wasn't great job for Ellie, but she falls in love- with Pastel and the bakers. But when Chef Lydia Hayel, owner of Hayel Confections, threatened to run Pastel out of business Ellie says she's going to have to go through them, first. They may look outnumbered, Pastel's eighteen bakers versus Hayel with twice as much, but the Pastel crew members are loyal and tough. Will Ellie be promoted? Will Pastel go out of business?
