In a world you thought you knew,
and a life that always seemed the same.
Things are never as they seem.
Kelsey Forestwood, heir to the throne of the forest realm of Karyn, enjoys exploring the forest and helping the villages in their constant battle against the goblin raids from the nearby Harlant Mountains. But at home, the expectations are much different.
Kelsey tries to keep her parents happy. She tries her hardest to remember all of the diplomatic etiquette when there are visitors, and plays along to the efforts of the endless bevy of suitors her father has deemed appropriate. Until one day, she snaps.
It is then that they discover that Kelsey has the unusual talent in magic. Members of the populace with this ability are commonly referred to as 'Faeries.'
Upon this, Kelsey's parents send her to the magical academy Calthia in the more modern realm of Ralanis.
Ralanis is a completely different world from Karyn. New technology, which she knows about but hasn't had many experiences with, and people who act in a way that she has never been exposed to, force her into an aloof, withdrawn persona that isn't totally foreign to her, but not familiar either.
Kelsey slowly begins to understand this new world. But with that understanding comes an announcement that changes her life forever. For while Kelsey thinks she's average, she soon learns that she's not only different.
She's extraordinary, and the fate of the universe lies in her hands.
