Percy Quartz , is an ordinary boy with an extraordinary life. Due to his medical  condition,his only hope for survival at birth was to have a heart transplant,the catch was that the entire heart needed to be transplanted, not a part of it,as it is usually done.Yes,he needed a bionic heart in order to live. 

Operation being successful enough it takes away his ability to love people, especially those who are non-blood relations. But does his world change after he encounters the smart and beautiful Alex Olten? Will his parents ever reveal his true identity to him? Will Percy ever believe the fact that he is 50% bionic? Is Alex the missing piece to the puzzle? Or more importantly is she the one who can ignite the emotion of love in Percy?

The Hanahaki Disease is an illness born from unrequited love, where the patient's throat will fill up with flower, they will then proceed to throw, and cough up the petals, (sometimes even the flowers). One of the only ways for the disease to 'disappear' is if, the said person returns the feeling (it can't be resolved with friendship, it has to be genuine feelings of love). The infection can also be removed through surgery, though the feelings disappear along with the petals. If they choose neither options, or the feeling is not returned in time, then the patient's lungs will fill up with flowers, and will eventually suffocate.
