Harmonized Freedoms
Eliora May, a lifetime citizen of Maplemaw, is something many women are not. Literate. An activist. But these become hard to complete as all is stripped away from her with the coming of unexpected news. Marriage and war between the faeires and elves of Ilkaphene. A land of magic, where flowers and fungi grow as tall as their castles. Where forest creatures live in harmony. A land of peace. A land where a fairy married an elf. A fairy princess marrying an elf princess at that. Eliora begins to hear rumors of the war. How it was destroying an ethereal land. And, worst of all, how women were being silenced to prevent more "corruption". As the war and its standards begin to seep into Elvangmort, changing Eliora's home into one of constrictions, hushed whispers, and worst of all, a hatred toward women, she knows that she must do something to save her freedom and the freedoms of those around her. *** This is my submission for ONC 2025! What started as laughter and camaraderie quickly turned into a nightmare when one of them, Emma, vanished without a trace, leaving behind only whispered warnings and shadowy figures lurking in the dark. Stricken with guilt and fear, the remaining friends fled, swearing never to speak of that night again. Now, years later, the past refuses to stay buried. Maya, one of the surviving friends, receives an unsettling invitation to a reunion at the same cabin on Halloween night. Against her better judgment, she joins the gathering, hoping for answers but dreading what she might uncover. As the group reunites, old tensions surface, and eerie occurrences begin: shadows that move without light, whispers that echo in empty rooms, and unsettling reminders of the night Emma disappeared. When one of the friends goes missing under similar circumstances, the group realizes they are being hunted by a malevolent force tied to their betrayal. With secrets unraveling and the shadows closing in, Maya and her friends must confront the truth about what really happened that fateful night.
