Meet Tove Brooker, a twenty two year old inventor from America. Only being in London for three years, she is known far and wide as the most unladylike woman in London. She can be, but she thinks that it's tiresome. Follow Tove as she meets a police officer also from America, fights evil henchmen on blimps, flies in the sky with rocket boots (made by herself), and sneaks into Buckingham Palace to save the President of the U.S. and the Queen. Did I mention that she gets catapulted onto a moving train?

The starting point for this story is the unlawful invasion of Iraq. With the exception of France, all western nations were guilty. As an arts student at the University of Sydney in the 1980's, majoring in European history, I wrote many essays for my anthropology course on revolution focusing on key events and arguments for frenzied regurgitation in tutorials. Kidnapping, a common practice in Napoleonic France and recently by the Bush Administration during the Iraq War. In the 21st century we know it as 'rendition'. For lightness of touch I refer to rendition as 'prevenue'. It is a French word meaning preventative arrest and the centrepiece of the catastrophe of this comedic drama. For my hero to have the impact that I intended, it was necessary to build the story slowly. As such, when Fortune finally arrives, first on page 5, then page 45 as the old hag Asia, she hits with the force of a stealth bomber. Fortune is one speck in the vastness of the entire universe, yet a continual and elevated presence for the remaining story. Perhaps paradoxically, in the light of wartime chaos, not to mention the restraints placed on women in the Middle East, would always be there, somehow. Fortune, is an extraordinary and daring middle aged woman, truly in her element delivering a message to Commander Dallas Stone, a self-entitled Christian zealot. The message heightened by the fact that the American establishment is a foreign invader.Concluida
