Are We Human?
Cloning is now a legal and regular practice globally. Poor people give their children to be cloned then get them returned. The clones are then raised to fight in war, and nothing more. They stay in camps, with little to no privacy. Dan and Phil are clones. They meet, fall in love, and are together through it all. Up until World War Three begins and clones are beginning to be drafted yet again. Phil gets drafted almost immediately, much to Dan's dismay. He vows to get him back, no matter how much blood he needs to spill in the process. "We aren't people! We're its! We're monsters! We're just clones and that's all we'll ever be. Bonnie and her seven brothers lives changed forever, after the sudden and tragic death of Bonnies' parents, eight years ago. They had to find a way to survive and make ends meet, staying with their uncle and cousins until her oldest brother, Alexander could become their legal guardian. Bonnie has never really 'loved' herself. When she was younger, she would always pick out something about her she didn't like. Whether it was a bruise on her arm, or her slightly disheveled hair, she would be upset and unhappy with her appearance. She has always craved to be liked, loved and accepted. She's now 14 and is starting her first year as a freshman at high school. Though high school isn't going to be easy like it was for her popular, loud brothers. Jealousy. Heartbreak. Bullies. Pressure. Judgement. Adapting to a new change is hard. Bonnie can't quite take it, she gets overwhelmed, and her brain feels too 'busy'. She can't help feeling what it would be like if she wasn't there or if she stayed silent, nobody would notice. She doesn't crave to be a popular girl, or to be eye candy for the boys, she just wants to be known as 'pretty' and liked. Her worst nightmare is to be known as the far girl, or the ugly one. This need becomes overwhelming, and soon her body shuts down, and her mental health plummets. She does some things, things she will regret in the future yet in the moment cures her need to feel alive, it brings satisfaction. Will her older brothers be able to save her? What happens when it all gets too much? They might be able to save her from other people, but can they save her from herself?... Drama. Drama. Drama. That pretty much describes my life. I mean when your living with your 7 older brothers, 5 cousins, best friends, and a 3 month old baby, life can't get any better! And then there's school. Well school is school. Loaded with a the different 'groups' of kids. The geeks, popular, etc. And last but not least, my parents. We don't even know where they are most the time since they go on business trips after business trips. They come for for a week at the most and leave again. My family is not rich, but not poor. We have more than enough money to get the nice things we want, but we have to earn them. My life sounds pretty interesting huh?Complete

The year is 2040, and for the clones that were created during the brief run of a shady high tech company in the early 2020's, the time has come for them to become adults. Madelyn has been attending an all girls' boarding school with a large percentage of cloned girls for all of her academic life, and sees the changes in the girls as they approach graduation. Many of the clones were made from stolen DNA from supermodels, singers and actresses, and have almost no shot at a real future because of the sheltered way they were raised. They'd been isolated and completely dependent on the school and the families that ordered them as though they were nothing more than food on a menu. But not every clone is going down without a flight, as Madelyn finds out when she meets her new next door neighbor. This was written for the Open Novelle Contest 2023, Prompt 61: A new neighbor comes to town. Not a very social person, they hide out in their house every day, only leaving through tinted cars. Then, one night when you are going out, you look straight into the face of your idol.Complete
