Lucille 'Lucy' Meadow had believed that many things were symbolic in life. A smile could be symbolic for happiness, a beating heart or blush after a simple encounter or nice gesture could be symbolic for love at first sight. Many people believe in love at first sight in that kind of way, but that's not how she used to see it. She believed that there was no such thing as love in high school. Parties, smoking, fool-hardy acts, gross perverts, even sex. Love doesn't occur here, she thought. True love, that is. But, key phrase, 'used to see it'. What made her change her mind? Or who..?

Josh Greene is new to Cascade High and it doesn't give him a very nice welcoming. Flirts, jerks, and everything unpleasant about a school. He could have left, but he didn't. She made him realize that through all the bad, there's always a treasure waiting, and it was her.
