"It was a dark and stormy night!" "You can't start it like that!" "Why not?" "Because that's..." The child rubs their chin, as if they had a beard, "Because it's dumb!" "Why is it dumb?" The other child said, glaring at his companion. "Uh...I don't know Adam!" the child exclaims, tossing their arms onto their lap. They give Adam an exasperated look. "Well if you don't want me to tell a story then you tell it," Adam said, handing the other child the flashlight. "Fine! I bet I can do it better than you!" They said. Adam just laughed, shaking his head. There were a couple more hours of this, the two children exchanging stories, under a blanket fort, in the quiet of the night. "Adam...I'm tired." The child said, rubbing their eyes and tousling their dirty-blonde hair. "Don't go to sleep." Adam said suddenly, grabbing the child's arm in reflex. "Why not? I'm tired..." The child said with a yawn. "I'm...scared, don't wanna be alone." Adam said quietly. The flashlight was the only thing illuminating the room, and the fort was small. The child only smiled. "I would never leave you Adam, and you know that. "I know." "So go to sleep, nothing will happen, I'll make sure." "Thanks...goodnight...Samandriel." "Goodnight Adam."

Read to find out how Fate chose Lillian and Lukas' path to be known as The Twins With the Colored Eyes. ~~~ Preview: "That means..." I couldn't even finish my sentence. The thought was too horrifying. She grinned, "I see you've figured it out." She clicked her tongue,"But that also means we have to let you go a little sooner." I frowned at her words. What? She walked towards me with a sly smirk, I shrunk back into the chair, not caring that some splinters pierced my shirt. I felt her insert the key and turning it ever so slowly. But before she fully took the chains off she whispered in my ear. "Hurry, flames are such a pretty sight when they blaze out of control." My eyes widened. The chains dropped. I ran. ~~~ First Book
