A university student by the name of Gary Oaks moved in. All he wanted was a normal and peaceful life -- since his life, so far, was far from average. Quite tragic, actually. In his new apartment room, there was a mirror left by the last owners of the room. He let it be, and soon he discovered it was a magical mirror.

What was so magical about it, you ask? Well, it's not everyday a girl claims to have come out on. It must be magic.<3

And what exactly did this spirit, Peridot, want? Quite simply, she wanted Gary to appreciate the beauty of life. Since he, never truly having the chance to love living, seemed to take life for granted. To Gary, life was retribution for a sin he committed many years ago.
