Across the Barrens

In the year 2020, the unthinkable happened. First, the demons invaded. They came from all corners of the Earth. They hit fast and they hit hard, wiping out a third of the population in the first three weeks. Within two months the world was crippled and looking for a win. That’s when the angels appeared. But these weren’t the angels we thought we knew. These angels were warriors, hardened fighters bred to push back the demon army. The two forces fought non-stop, paying little attention to the humans getting caught in the crossfire.
After another month of fighting, the Americans had a last ditch plan. They were going to turn all of their nukes on the invaders, trying to save what was left of the human race.

Their plan worked.

It has now been 150 years since The Heavenly War, and the world’s population had grown. The three regions of America were still separated, working as three new countries with The Authority still hunting the last of the angels and demons, known as Reavers. Leading this hunt was a member of The Authority named Ash. Unlike anyone else The Authority had met, Ash was immune to the telekinetic powers of the Reavers.
But one Reaver hunted Ash. The Reaver killed Ash’s family, leaving the bodies for Ash to find. She chased this ‘man in black’ across The District until he crossed the border into The Barrens. Against the orders of The Authority, she followed the man in black into The Barrens, marking her as a deserter and bringing the full force of The Authority after her. Now she wanders The Barrens, chasing after the man in black and staying one step ahead of The Authority.
