Jeanne Garcia, a run-away, is being pursued by a hellhound.
A powerful kid calling himself a son of Hades saves her and tells her what she is and what she is capable of doing. He takes her to a camp called Camp Half-Blood where Jeanne is able to learn what she is and feel accepted. 

Finally, when Jeanne is finally settled on what she could call a real "family"  a war threatens to break out. A queer message from her godly parent saying that she may play a part to ensure the victory of her comrades even though she may not survive shakes Jeanne and she becomes solitary for contemplating throughout the preparation for the war.
