"Brooke! Wake up!" My mother yelled up the stairs. "Ugh" I groaned pulling my covers over my head. "Can't you just home school me?" I told her as she walked into my room. "I would if I could. You're gonna meet so many new friends! You're gonna have so much fun." She said soothingly. "Whatever. I might as well not talk to anyone. We are just gonna move again. We always do." I said rolling my eyes at her. She drew back her hand and smacked me in the face. "Don't ever roll your eyes at me." She said in rage. Damn. What a bitch. I'm used to her hitting me. She always does. She has ever since my dad left. Brooke Elizabeth Jackson is 16. She has been abused by her mother ever since her father left when she was 8. She is terrified of her mother. Brooke moves from town to town never staying in one place for very long. She has been in 8 different schools in the past 5 months. Brooke's only wish is to get away from her mother.

An eerie silence echoed through the house at the end of Yellow Brooke Street, the wind outside slammed toward the wooden walls making a whistle inside the house from the cracked windows; the front door made a thud each time it slammed toward the wall and the screams from the dead gave the house an uneasiness to it. I stood before the house, while my friends were excited to do the exact opposite of what our parents told us to; I was not. I trusted my mother when she told us to never get close to this place. "You guys ready?" Diana said with joy in her voice, I stuttered. "No.." the fear in my voice was obvious, though no one seemed to care. Dan glanced at me and chuckled. "Really? It's just a house." "It's a haunted house." I said nervously. "Maybe we should trust our parents on this, they told us that it isn't safe for a reason." "You wimp." Diana joked, she wasn't serious; it was just to get me with them and of course she knew that it would work. "It's fine if you don't want to Luna." Lucas said, at least he was cool about it. "I-I'm not a wimp!" I stumbled on my words. "Yey!" Diana said happily and rushed toward me with her arms open. "I'll buy you McDonalds after this." I hugged her, even though I wasn't happy. I looked at the time. 12.20am
