After changing majors and graduating with top honours with a masters degree in education, Tris Prior finds herself with a great job, teaching at one of Chicago's most prestigious private schools: Amity Elementary. However, perceptions may often times be distorted and when presented with a difficult situation, Tris will have to trust herself and others to make tough decisions that will have long lasting effects. Easy answers don't always make the best solutions. New friendships will be formed and some questioning alliances made, all in an attempt to get to the truth.

Beatrice "Tris" Prior gets some unexpected and exciting news from her parents: she's moving to Chicago! She cannot wait to leave her hometown in Florida and start a new life in Chicago. Her old life in Florida was filled with bullies, horrible events, and flashbacks. She's hoping that she can find a safe haven in Chicago. Four Eaton hasn't had a great life either. He was whipped by his mother when he was younger, and he's been struggling to think of himself as something more than a nothing. He's about given up hope when he meets the new girl at his school, Tris Prior. His "gang" of friends automatically take her in, and they learn about her past. Four finds himself falling for her. What happens when Tris finds out that Four likes her? Will she open her heart to a new person? Or will she close herself off so she and others can't get hurt?
