Gary was born in North Staffordshire England, has BA (hons), MA (hons) and is currently studying for a Ph.D. He spent much of his formative years as a club MC in the British Rave Scene with residencies at Entropy, Shelly’s and a British tour with the Happy Mondays then releasing songs like Squiggy about the Princess of Wales’ affair with James Hewitt. He began writing poetry and short stories to pay for the magazine adverts of his coffeeshop. His first book Woodun Indians sold out in six months then followed Dear Love Powa and his by serenading lovers on Valentines Day followed by Contemporary Common Criminal and an English tour. Gary Oliver is widely regarded as one of the foremost and influential writer performance MC/poets of his generation.
