Penelope Astra loves her life in New York; Starbucks around every corner and WiFi everywhere she goes. With her mom, Rose Astra, always busy at work she spends most of her nights out with her friends running off to shows and going to obscure gallery openings. That is until her mom's new fiance suggests she send her off to her grandmother's house in Washington. Normally her mother would disagree but with a huge court case coming up and planning for the wedding, Rose has no time to make sure Penelope is staying out of trouble. There in North Bend Washington she meets her Aunt Holly and Granny Clementine for the very first time. Upon first glance they appear to be just earthy hippies but as Penelope gets to know them she'll soon uncover the family secret her mother has kept hidden from her. Not only does she learn the truth about what her family really is but mysterious new neighbors move into town. Who are they and what secrets are they also hiding?
