Dean and Sam were kidnapped when their mother's past caught up with her. The group that kidnapped are known as the Shattered Wings. Dean and Sam have tried escaping countless times but have been caught every time. Every punishment is worse than the last. Castiel is the only reason they're still alive, but doesn't mean they're beaten to the point of death.
