Mikayla Tate just turned 18 and she has so many issues. Her parents are always fighting, her best friend of 5 years decided she wasn't good enough, and her older brother has just been confirmed dead after being missing for a year. She is not happy at all. Her father becomes abusive when he drinks and she can't do anything about it.

She doesn't know what to do.

One day, as she is leaving for school, she sees moving trucks at the house across the street. Unloading the truck is a boy with black hair and purple eyes. His skin is pale and he is beautiful. They become friends immediately.

One night after one of her father's outrages, she decided that she won't put up with it any longer. She decided to run away. When the boy across the street find out she is gone, however, he sets out on a hunt for her and his brother, Jonny, just so happens to want to tag along. None of them knew of the adventures, love and loss this trip would bring until it was too late.
